According to the ancient Hindu epic, Ramayana, Lord Rama took a 14-year exile to the forest of Panchvati at the behest of his father, King Dasharath of Ayodhya. His wife, Sita and his step-brother, Lakshman also accompanied him during this period. This painting depicts Rama, with Sita and Lakshman.
